A Different Path Forward
Addiction can affect anyone. It can impact physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, employment, finances and family life.
At NCT, we believe that asking for help should never be something to feel ashamed of.
Our aim is to help people take that first step towards recovery by providing information, practical support and connections to appropriate specialist services.
A Supportive, Non-Judgemental Starting Point
Whether someone is struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling or another form of addictive behaviour, finding a way forward can feel overwhelming.
NCT aims to provide a supportive, non-judgemental starting point for people who want to make a change.
We can help individuals understand the support available and, where appropriate, connect them with qualified healthcare professionals, specialist addiction services and community organisations.
Addiction Can Take Many Forms
Our initiative aims to support people affected by a range of addictions and addictive behaviours.
The type of support someone needs will depend on their circumstances, health and the nature of their addiction.
We aim to support people affected by:
- Alcohol dependency
- Drug dependency
- Prescription or over-the-counter medication misuse
- Gambling-related harm
- Other addictive behaviours
Manageable steps towards positive change:
- Understanding addiction and its impact
- Recognising when additional support may be needed
- Finding appropriate local services
- Accessing qualified professional support
- Connecting with peer and community support
- Developing healthier routines
- Supporting family members and loved ones
- Encouraging long-term recovery and wellbeing
Recovery Doesn't Have to Happen Overnight
We want to help people take manageable steps towards positive change.
Where specialist treatment is required, we aim to help people reach the appropriate service rather than attempting to provide clinical treatment ourselves.
The Right Help, From the Right Service

With Dignity, Respect and Compassion
Support for Families
Addiction doesn’t only affect the individual.
Families, partners, children and friends can also experience significant emotional and practical difficulties when someone they care about is struggling with addiction.
Our initiative aims to help families understand where they can find information, guidance and appropriate support for themselves and their loved ones.
A Non-Judgemental Approach
We believe people should be treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Addiction is complex, and recovery can involve setbacks as well as progress.
Our approach is focused on encouraging people to seek appropriate help and supporting them towards healthier choices without judgement.
We Support. We Don't Replace Clinical Treatment.
NCT’s role is to provide information, support and signposting to appropriate services.
Unless specifically stated and appropriately authorised, NCT does not provide medical treatment, detoxification, rehabilitation or clinical addiction services itself.
Where medical or specialist treatment is required, individuals should be supported to access an appropriately qualified healthcare professional or specialist service.
You Don't Have to Have Everything Figured Out
You don’t have to have everything figured out before asking for help.
